THE EVOLUTION OF COPYRIGHT AND RELATED RIGHTS: THE ROLE OF UNESCO

Abstract

The article examines the activities of the UN specialized agency for education, science and culture UNESCO, aimed at the development of protection of creative works at the international and national levels, analyzes the role of UNESCO in the development of several universal international treaties in the fi eld of intellectual property rights protection and in solving the problems associated with such protection, including the preservation of cultural heritage when using intellectual property in digital form. The authors conclude that it is important for the Russian Federation to participate in addressing these issues using the potential of UNESCO in order to guarantee creative activities and broad cultural exchange, the formation of legal and organizational framework for the further development of national culture, strengthening of international cooperation in accordance with the national interests of the Russian Federation.
